Multiple crashes reported I-64 near Staples Mill

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Police have responded to multiple accidents along Interstate 64 in Richmond and Henrico County.

As many as nine vehicles were involved in a crash on Interstate 64 west between the I-95 split and Staples Mill Road exit.

The CBS 6 crew on scene said it appeared most of the accidents were “fender benders” and no serious injuries were reported.

Nearby, two tractor trailers are stuck on the off-ramp of I-64 west at Staples Mill Road. The tractor trailers cannot get up the hill.

Virginia State Police responded to 77 crashes between 5:30 a.m. and 9 a.m in Central Virginia, according to Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Thomas Molnar.

“Troopers in the Richmond Division are currently on-scene or responding to an additional 48 motor vehicle crashes involving property damage,” he wrote in an email.
