RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – We are constantly fielding questions from viewers who want to know why low-flying planes or helicopters are buzzing over their homes.

Sometimes we have an answer, other times we do not.

If you live in Richmond and hear a helicopter over your home tonight, we know why.

A helicopter training exercise is scheduled tonight at Defense Supply Center Richmond. The training is scheduled between 8 and 8:30 p.m.

“Our neighbors who live in communities surrounding the installation will see and hear several CH 46 Sea Knight helicopters landing on the helicopter pad, which is located off of G Road on the installation near the Bensley Community,” the Defense Logistics Agency Aviation Public Affairs unit wrote in a press release. “DLA Fire and Emergency Services at Richmond will be stationed near the exercise solely as a precaution. Traffic near the event will be controlled.”
