RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell intends to file a motion to dismiss the indictment he was served last month, according to court documents filed in U.S. District Court in Richmond. The document indicated McDonnell will file that Motion to Dismiss by March 25.

“Because the legal issues in the Motion to Dismiss will substantially overlap with the legal issues in Mr. McDonnell’s Motion for Discovery of Grand Jury Communications (Doc. 8), it may be more convenient for the Court—and better serve the interests of judicial economy—to hear these Motions together at a later date,” McDonnell’s lawyers wrote in court paperwork.

Last month McDonnells entered not guilty pleas to federal charges that they accepted illegal gifts. The judge released the McDonnells on their own recognizance and set trial for July 28.
