Six people were arrested over the course of the investigation into Quick's disappearance and death. However, no one has been charged with his murder.

A memorial fund has been set up for Quick. Donations can be made to the Waynesboro Police Foundation.

The Suspects

Six suspects have been arrested in connection with Quick's disappearance and death.

The latest arrest was a Mineral man taken into custody in Louisa County on Feb. 9. Anthony White, 22, was charged with one felony count of gang participation.

Anthony Stokes Jr., 31, Halisi Uhuru, 22, and Leslie Casterlow, 49, were arrested on Feb. 6 on a felony count of gang participation and second degree capital murder during abduction charges.

However, the murder charge was “nulle prossed,” or set aside, while the trio are held without bond on the gang charge.

During the visit to the Henrico County Jail, one of the suspects could be heard saying “Whoop, Whoop!” and another yelling back, “Whip it, whip it good!”

A CBS 6 investigation revealed that Stokes and Uhuru had gang ties and were recently released from prison.

Additionally, two Albemarle County siblings were arrested on Feb. 4 at an Alexandria hotel on larceny charges in connection Quick's stolen SUV.

Mersadies Shelton, 20,  and Daniel Mathis, 18, were charged with one felony count each of grand larceny. Their home address, on Barracks Road in Charlottesville, is less than two miles from the apartments where Quick was headed.

Shelton was also charged as a primary offender in the malicious wounding and attempted robbery in Louisa on Super Bowl Sunday.Quick’s stolen SUV was seen fleeing the scene.

While a third sibling, Shantai Shelton, 24, has not been charged in the investigation related to Quick’s homicide, prosecutors said she may have a connection to the case.

Police Captain Vanishes

Quick disappeared Friday, Jan. 31, after he left his mother’s Afton home. He was going to see the mother of his 4-month-old daughter, about 20 miles away. Multiple police sources believe the crime was random and that robbery was the motive.

Investigators discovered Quick’s body on Feb. 6 off Old Columbia Rd. in Goochland County, near the Fluvanna County line.

Authorities have not revealed the cause of death or explained any connection between Quick and the suspects.

A flag was lowered to half-staff at the Fishburne Military School in tribute to the police captain during a state police news conference the day after Quick's body was found.

A Community Mourns

Hundreds of people gathered for a candlelight vigil at the Waynesboro Police Department on Feb. 8.

While the tragedy has devastated the entire Waynesboro community, those who knew him came together to share fond memories of the 45-year-old.

“Whenever you needed him, you pick up the phone and he was right there,” said Jason Quick, Kevin’s youngest brother.

Buck Fitzgerald, who knew Quick for over 15 years, remembered him as “the nicest guy you could ever be around.”
