CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (WTVR) - The Naval Criminal Investigate Service (NCIS) is investigating the stabbing of a Virginia Marine.

Lance Corporal Emily Hammonds was stabbed "multiple times" by another Marine early Saturday morning at Camp Pendleton, U.S. Marine Corps officials told City News Service in San Diego. Her condition has not yet been released.

Hammonds graduated from Hermitage High School in 2012, according to friends who contacted WTVR.com after hearing about the stabbing. Back then she was working at Chuck E. Cheese on West Broad street, and planning her future career.

She signed up to become a U.S. Marine.

That's all she talked about was doing that and leaving," her former manager C.J. Dortch said.

When friends found out it was "heartbreaking...that's crazy for something like that to happen, and for it to be another Marine--they supposed to be on your side," Dortch said.

Investigators are not releasing much information about the stabbing but one of Hammond’s family members posted on Facebook.

"Yes you're hurting and it seems life has gone crazy. Doesn't mean god has given up. He hasn't. He took a crazy man off the streets.

Her former colleagues wanted to send a message of healing to the West Coast, and said they hope Emily gets back on her feet to continue living her dream soon.
