HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (RichmondBizSense.com) – The health-care industry is fueling more development in Mechanicsville.

Hanover Emergency Center, a $10 million freestanding emergency center, is scheduled to open in May or June in Rutland Commons, and KidMed, an after-hours urgent care facility for children and young adults, hopes to open in April on Bell Creek Road.

Hanover Emergency Center’s 22,000-square-foot facility is being built on a 2.8-acre plot next to Bojangles’ on Atlee Road in the Rutland development.

“The location was picked because the population there is expanding and growing, both residential and commercial,” said Lee Van Sise, director of the new facility.
