RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) -- It’s the end of the line for movie rental chain Blockbuster stores in Richmond.

CBS 6 went to the W. Broad Street store Sunday as several people came out for big deals during a closing sale.

One member of our news team said he got in on the bargains and bought a DVD shelf.

However, by the time our crew arrived this afternoon, there was not much left in the store.

CNNMoney reported in November that Blockbuster would shutter its 300 stores and its distribution centers that serve mail order services by the end of January.

Blockbuster was bought by Dish Network in 2010 after the chain went bankrupt.

DISH said Blockbuster franchises and licensed stores in the United States and internationally will stay open.
