Richmond fire crews responded to the call at VCU Medical Center.

Fire officials arrived at the hospital after receiving a call that a patient broke out of a window on the second floor. Dispatchers reported over police scannners to be on the lookout for a man in a hospital gown with possible lacerations.

The patient managed to make it to a nearby roof before jumping, and landing on a ledge.

When firefighters arrived, they used ladders to get the man down.

There has been no information released about why the patient jumped or the patient's identity.

Hospital officials said that the damaged window was being repaired Wednesday.

VCU Police said Wednesday afternoon that charges are not being pursued at this time.
