RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Richmond Police announced Monday that the suspect in Richmond’s 37th homicide of the year has surrendered.

Around 5:30 a.m. Sunday, Richmond Police were called to the 2700 block of the Richmond-Henrico Turnpike where they found a woman lying on the ground.  She had been shot and was later pronounced dead at VCU Medical Center.

Police worked leads that led to a Henrico county home, where the suspect was alleged to be hiding. A SWAT team presence accompanied police, but the suspect was not there.

Family members confirmed Sunday with CBS 6 that the victim was 26-year old Sheena Green.

Corenzo Hill, 30, of the 3700 block of Conway St., Henrico, turned himself into officers late Sunday night,  at police headquarters.

Hill has been charged with Abduction by Force, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon in connection with the shooting death Sheena Green.

Hill faces additional charges in this case. Hill was convicted in Henrico of Grand Larceny in 2008. He received a five year sentence in jail, with all but six months suspended.  Had he served a full sentence, he would just be getting out.

“I ain’t ever going to get to see her again.  The only way I will get to see her is in a picture,” said Thomas Green, Sheena’s brother.

Shortly before 10 a.m. Sunday, Henrico County swat personnel were dispatched to Conway Street, which is near Richmond International Raceway, to assist in executing a search warrant connected to the homicide investigation.

Thomas Green told CBS 6 on Sunday that his sister’s ex-boyfriend lives at the home. The pair have two children together, according to Green.

Police on scene did not specify what was found at the home, but said they do not believe Green’s killing was a random act.

“This wasn’t supposed to happen to my sister,” said Green, who added that Sheena worked at a local daycare to help support her children.

Anyone with information about this crime that could aid police is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
