2 arrested for South Richmond shooting

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — Richmond police said two men have been arrested in connection with an early morning shooting in South Richmond Friday.

The victim was taken to VCU Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said 29-year-old William Cannon, of the 4400 block of Atlantic Ave., and 19-year-old Jaykwann Yates, of the 300 block of Red Ash Drive, were spotted near the scene.

Police apprehended the pair after a brief foot chase in a wooded area near Castelwood Road.

Cannon was charged with robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Yates was charged with robbery and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Police said the victim’s wounds are not life-threatening.
