Capital City Kwanzaa Festival – Remembering Nelson Mandela

RICHMOND, VA. (WTVR): Kwanzaa celebrates the first fruits of the Harvest and Saturday, December 28 from 1pm – 9pm you and your family can join the Elegba Folklore Society at the annual Capital City Kwanzaa Festival. The festival is back downtown at the Historic Hippodrome, 528 North 2nd Street, and features speakers, workshops, an African Market, African-inspired cuisine, children’s events and masquerades.

Performers include Jarrad Anthony, Truth & Rights Reggae Band, African dancers and drummers and renowned cultural historian, Dr. Runoko Rashidi. Capital City Kwanzaa will also pay tribute to the late Nelson Mandela. Admission: advance $6, door $7, advance seniors and students $5, door $6, children under 12 free.
