(CNN) – If you’re packing up and heading home this weekend, it may be a bumpy ride. Winter weather has thrown a wrench into holiday travel plans in many parts of the country this week. However, there’s an app for that. A new feature allows travelers to reach their final destination with less headaches and alerts you of delays.

There are several apps that are available to help with winter travel.

Apps like Gate Guru and Travel Nerd help navigate airports you may not be familiar with.

Gate Guru also maps out food, coffee, shopping and other amenities closest to your gate. Travel Nerd does the same thing and gives you an overview of transportation to and from your desires airport.

The Hotel Tonight app can find you a cheap one night stay in case of cancellations.

If you’re picking up someone from the airport you can try Just Landed app. This app tells you exactly when a flight lands and when you should head out the door to get there on time.

An app called WhatsBusy displays an estimated wait time for security at major airports. That allows you to gauge how long you’ll have to wait almost down to the minute. WhatsBusy gets its data from the TSA, then forecasts wait times through an algorithm.

There’s also an app called FAA Wait. It alerts you to delays and cancellations.

Some who use both, say the apps make traveling easier.
