CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Chesterfield County school leaders want feedback about the county’s proposed calendar for 2014-2015.The Chesterfield School Board is scheduled to vote on the calendar Jan. 28.

In addition to submitting feedback via postal mail and email, the Chesterfield School System asked for input on Facebook too.

The proposed 2014-15 school calendar runs from Sept. 2 thru June 12. Winter Break is Dec. 22-Jan. 2 and  Spring Break is April 6-10. Schools and school offices will be closed Nov. 26-28 for Thanksgiving, Jan. 19 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Feb. 16 for Presidents Day and May 25 for Memorial Day.

“To continue to provide collaborative planning and professional development time for teachers, the calendar includes four early-release Wednesdays for students: Sept. 24, Oct. 29, Feb. 25 and March 25,” the county posted on its website. “Students will also be released three hours early April 3 and June 11-12, which are teacher workdays.”

Two hours after it posted on Facebook, nearly 40 people had offered feedback.

“I still dislike the 3 hour dismissals on Wednesdays. They are very inconvenient for working parents!” Michele B. wrote.

“This is our second full year in Chesterfield County Schools and we still don’t understand the half day on every last Wednesday of every month. I agree with the other parents, take that away and give the kids a few extra days of summer break! Other than that complaint, it looks nice,” Heather F. wrote.

“Thank you for asking for our input and for taking it into consideration- as you did last year! Happy Holidays!” added Liz K.
