RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Henrico High School student Dylan Reissner won the Best in Show award at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts’ “Teen Stylin’ Runway” show.

“More than 80 Richmond-area middle and high school students participated in the show, the culmination of seven weeks of work with fashion instructor Mo Regulinski at the museum’s fashion institute,” Henrico Schools spokesman Andy Jenks wrote in an email. “This year the contest focused on the use of unconventional materials to represent a chosen piece of art from VMFA’s collection.”

Reissner’s piece “Hibernation of the Holy,” was inspired by “Madonna and Child Enthroned with Saints.”

“The wonderful thing about teenagers is that they won’t be embarrassed … It’s wonderful to watch them develop a style, and the freedom to use new materials,” Regulinski said in a statement.

The winning pieces will be on display through Jan. 31, 2014 in VMFA’s Art Education Center.
