GREENSVILLE COUNTY, Va (WTVR) -- A threat was found scribbled inside Greensville County High School, causing some parents to pick up their children from school Friday morning.

"I got a text from my daughter telling  me they had a bomb threat," parent Michael Scott said.

The school scare had several parents making their way one-by-one to the high school in order to take their kids home.

"They've had so many incidents with certain things happening at school and kids getting hurt," parent Crystal Myrick said.  "I don't want to be the one that doesn't take my child out and something happens."

Greensville County School Superintendent Dr. Philip Worrell said parents were concerned when a threat, for a bomb threat was written on a bathroom stall inside the high school this week.  It was enough of a threat that left several parents erring on the side of caution.

"It scared me, it was like Sandy Hook and Columbine and all of those schools where you've heard of tragedies before," Myrick said.  "I didn't want to take the chance of my daughter being involved with it."

The school did send home a letter informing parents of the incident that a bomb threat was going to be made at 10:37 a.m. Friday the 13th.  But some parents felt the letter was not enough.

"The kids are still in school, they should be outside the school," Scott said.

However several other parents felt differently.

"It's not their responsibility to make sure that I'm doing my job as a mom," Myrick said.  "I trust Greensville County, but that's my life...that's my kid."

Several hours before and after the bomb threat was expected to happen, local and state police checked the outside and inside of the school to ensure it was clear--and it was. Investigators are now trying to determine who left the message.
