Weekend Events: Parade of Lights, Nutcracker and vintage toy exhibit

21st annual James River Parade of Lights, a parade of decorated boats with thousands of lights, some with Santa will cruise the James River Saturday, December 14 between Richmond, and Henrico and Chesterfield Counties. Viewing sites in Richmond: Libby Hill Park, corner of 28th and East Franklin streets, entertainment begins at 4:30 p.m., parade viewing at 6 p.m. ; Intermediate Terminal Dock, Dock and Water streets, parade viewing at 6 p.m.In Henrico County: Osborne Park and Boat Landing, 9530 Osborne Turnpike, entertainment begins at 4 p.m., parade viewing 7-7:30 p.m. In Chesterfield County: Dutch Gap Boat Landing, 441 Coxendale Road, parade viewing 7:30-7:45 p.m.; Henricus Historical Park, 251 Henricus Park Road, entertainment begins at 6 p.m., parade viewing 7:45-8 p.m. Parking is first-come, first-served. It’s one of Richmond’s favorite Holiday Traditions, Richmond Ballet The Nutcracker and it opens at the Carpenter Theatre, Richmond CenterStage Saturday, December 14 and runs through December Monday, December 23. As part of the Ballet’s 30th Anniversary Season, the Nutcracker features the company’s full roster of professionals, 26 trainees and over 150 accomplished students from the School of Richmond Ballet. The Central Virginia Wind Symphony with Mike Goldberg, Music Director, begins their 9th season with the annual Holiday Spectacular, Saturday, December 14th, 7:00 P.M. at Chesterfield Towne Center, Mike Goldberg Conductor, Jeff PrillamanNarrator, Kat Simons Host.

. The ensemble features talented high school musicians from schools in the City of Richmond, Henrico, Hanover, Chesterfield and Goochland Counties, as well as the Tri-Cities.  Mike Goldberg, local TV and radio meteorologist, is also a professional musician and classical music host for WCVE, Richmond Public Radio.
