CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - Virginia State Police are asking for helping finding  the person who shot a couple on Interstate 95. Thomas and Betty Doyle, of  Pennsylvania, were hurt Oct. 10 when someone fired into their vehicle.

"At approximately 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 10, a dark gray, four-door, short-bed 2007 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling south on Interstate 95," Virginia State Police wrote in an email. "Based on the ongoing investigation, state police have determined that as the vehicle approached Chippenham Parkway, the pickup truck’s driver’s side window was shattered by shotgun pellets. The pickup truck’s driver, Thomas Doyle, was struck and seriously injured. Pellets also struck the passenger, Betty Doyle, causing serious injury to her."

The Doyles stopped their truck on the shoulder of I-95 near Route 895/Pocahontas Parkway.

“The evidence that was collected following surgery strongly suggests that this couple was shot at very close range, possibly by a passenger, in a vehicle that was traveling right beside them on Interstate 95,” Special Agent A.S. Witt said in a statement. "Unfortunately, the couple is not able to provide any witness description of a suspect vehicle, so we are strongly encouraging anyone who recalls seeing the dark-gray, four-door Chevrolet Silverado that night or anything out of the ordinary on I-95 along the Richmond corridor to please contact us.”

A reward of $10,000 is being offered by the Doyle family for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible.

Anyone with any information can contact Special Agent Angie S. Witt at (804)553-3408 or at angie.witt@vsp.virginia.gov.
