HENRICO, Va. (WTVR)— On Wednesday Henrico Police arrested a registered sex offender, who had marijuana in his pocket, outside the Highland Springs High School.

Robert Paul, convicted in 2004 with sexual battery of a minor, was found sitting in a car in the parking lot of the school at 2:30 p.m., Lt. Richard Schurz, with Henrico Police, said to CBS 6.

The Highland Springs High School Resource Officer P.Bailey received a call from Lunenburg County Child Protective Services, who advised that there was a violent sex offender on school property, according to Schurz.

Two school resource officers located the subject in question.  Paul, 42-years-old, was taken into custody for being on school property.  He had marijuana in his pocket.

“Our information indicates that officers responded immediately and the individual was apprehended at his car,” Henrico Schools spokesman Andy Jenks wrote in an email. “He never entered the school. Students did not have any contact with him, nor were they ever in danger. The instructional day was never interrupted.”

Paul, a resident of Blackstone, is listed in the sex offender registry as an employee of a Richmond company, however the person who answered the phone at the company said Paul had not worked there in months.
