CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - Six Chesterfield Police officers are on administrative leave after an officer-involved shooting on Thanksgiving, according to Chesterfield Police. The leave is standard operating procedure following an officer-involved shooting.

Michael Killough, 47, of the 10400 block of Oakside Dr., was with family members inside the home when officers spotted him carrying some type of long gun, according to police. Officers helped family members escape before Killough came outside and engaged officers.

When Killough walked outside he apparently yelled at police and told them to shoot him in the head. When police didn't respond, Killough cocked his shotgun. That is when police said officers shot him.

Killough is charged with felonious assault on an officer and misdemeanor domestic assault. He is in custody of the Chesterfield Sheriff's Office at VCU Medical Center.

The U.S. Bureau of Prisons confirmed Killough is a federal corrections worker and has been employed with them since 1994.
