CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - Police sources told CBS 6 Eric Wilkins, who was shot and killed Thursday night wasn't the intended target of the gunfire that night.

According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, investigators believe Wilkins was likely in the wrong place at the wrong time during a dispute that didn't involve him.

"It makes me upset to know that somebody's life was cut short because of somebody else's ignorance," said Kaimi Glover, a friend of Wilkins.

Wilkins, a junior at VSU was killed outside an apartment building not too far from campus.

Police made an arrest on Friday, and charged 19-year-old Bryan Williams of Chester and charged him with first-degree murder along with use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in relation to the incident.

Glover told CBS 6 that Wilkins was someone that was nice to everyone he met. He said he also had a love for music.
