Chesterfield police fire shots at driver

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Chesterfield Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened in the 8000 block of Provincetown Drive around 12:30 Saturday morning.

According to police, an officer pulled a vehicle over for a traffic violation, but the driver, 23-year-old Trey Perry, attempted to drive away from the scene and hit two officers.  Perry allegedly tried to hit another officer, but the officer fired shots at him.

“There were no injuries due to gunfire and no one was seriously injured,” police wrote in an email about the situation. “Investigation into this incident is ongoing.”

A second suspect, 21-year-old Tiffany Atkinson, assaulted one of the officers and was charged with assault on a police officer and obstruction of justice, according to police.

Perry was charged with two counts of attempted capital murder, assault on a police officer, obstruction of justice, eluding police and a traffic charge.

Both are being held at the Chesterfield County Jail without bond pending a hearing at the Chesterfield County General District Court on Monday.
