(WTVR) -- Kia Motors Corp. is recalling over 80,000 minivans in the U.S. and Canada because a part in suspension system can break causing the driver to lose control.

Sedona minivans from 2006 through 2012. They were sold in 20 U.S. states and Washington, D.C. where salt is used to clear roads in the winter -- including Virginia.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the lower control arms near the wheels can rust and break due to salt exposure.

Starting next month, Kia dealers will inspect the parts and rustproof or replace them for free.
