RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Thrift stores are places of hope.

They are where unwanted or discarded things get another chance.

Where they can become treasures even.

We  go  there, searching . . . for what, we’re not exactly sure.

And it is there, at Diversity Thrift store, that we find the very essence of this hope for another chance. Her name is Ava Entzminger. She is 54 years old. She came to Diversity Thrift eight years ago as she began her journey to sobriety.

More than 20 million Americans are addicted to drugs and/or alcohol. Our prisons and cemeteries filled with them.

Those of you who love an addict know how absolutely heart-breaking it it, how you can come to that place where you give up hope.

Many drug and alcohol addicts live in that place, where the only hope it to have more of the very thing that is killing them.

Anyone who is or knows an addict and feels like giving up hope, watch this story.
