RICHMOND, VA. (WTVR): Virginia is currently the sixth-largest apple producing state by acreage in the country and in 2012 Governor Bob McDonnell made a Proclamation for Virginia Cider Week, making the state the first to have an official proclaimed “Cider Week”.

This year, Cider Week Virginia is November 15-24, bringing recognition to the state and a celebration of craft cider of eight Virginia cideries. Cider Week starts November 15 around the state but in Richmond Virginia Cider Week kicks off with The Richmond Cider Celebration November 16, from 11am – 4pm at the 17th Street Farmer’s Market, Shockoe Bottom, tickets are $15.

The Richmond Cider Celebration will bring together all eight of Virginia’s cideries for cider tastings (must be 21 or older to enjoy), apple and cider dishes, and all around apple-oriented fun benefiting the Enrichmond Foundation and it’s 60 partners throughout the City of Richmond.
