An arctic cold front is headed south through central Virginia this morning.
Temperatures will slowly fall throughout the day as the cold air rushes into the state. After mid to upper 40s at sunrise, temperatures will reach the upper 30s by sunset, with wind chill values in the upper 20s and low 30s.

Scattered snow showers will become likely behind the front, with the best six-hour window for snow in central Virginia between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. In Richmond, our window is between Noon and 4 p.m. All snow showers should exit out of southern Virginia by 5 p.m.
Snow could briefly whiten the grass in some of the heavier showers, but warm ground temps and light precipitation amounts will preclude accumulations.
Skies will clear Tuesday night, with lows falling into the mid 20s across central Virginia. We'll see a lot of sunshine on Wednesday, but highs still only reach the mid 40s. Temperatures will gradually moderate Thursday afternoon, with highs reaching the mid 50s after another morning in the mid 20s.

The warm-up will continue into the weekend, with highs reaching the mid 60s on both Saturday and Sunday. A weak disturbance could bring a little light rain to the area late Friday night into Saturday morning, but it currently looks like the weather will remain dry and cool for the Marathon, Half-Marathon, and 8K Saturday morning. Temperatures will be in the mid 40s at sunrise, warming into the low 60s by noon.
A more potent upper trough will bring a good chance of rain to the area late Sunday into Monday. It has been a very dry start to the month with only 0.07" to date, and the late weekend system has the potential to bring us a much-needed soaking rain.
The next shot of cold air is still expected to arrive in the November 20th/21st time frame.
