The strong cold front that we have been tracking for about a week will arrive Tuesday morning.  The front should pass through Richmond around daybreak.  After early morning highs in the low to mid 40s, temperatures will drop into the 30s during the afternoon.

There will not be a ton of moisture with the front, but there will be enough for some scattered precipitation across the state.  Rain showers will follow the frontal passage, but as temperatures fall, we could see some sleet pellets or wet snow flakes as well.  A spot or two could see a few snow showers.  Any precipitation will not be heavy, and ground temperatures will stay above freezing.

The coldest air since late March will settle in Tuesday afternoon through Thursday morning.  Lows will drop into the 20s and highs will only reach the low to mid 40s.

Southwesterly winds will return on Thursday afternoon, allowing temperatures to moderate the rest of the week.
