Possible water rescue turns up nothing on James River

HOPEWELL, Va. (WTVR)—Chesterfield and Hopewell crews are on the James River at City Point Park, near the Petersburg National Battlefield-City Point Park.

They are on the scene of a possible water rescue, reported by a young boy who told dispatch that he witnessed a person out on the river, sources said. It is not known at this time if the boy actually spotted a person.

Lt. Elmore with Chesterfield Fire Department told CBS 6 that there are crews on scene, assisting Hopewell Rescue with a boat. The call was made around 6 p.m. Thursday.
