HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – A Montpelier man was killed in a crash on Mountain Road, according to the Hanover Sheriff’s Office.

William L. Hegamyer, 71, of Walton’s Tavern Rd., died Monday evening when his 1999 Chevrolet Suburban ran off the road and hit several trees near the intersection of Mountain and Chewning Rds.

While the investigation into what caused the crashed continues, Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Chris Whitley said “speed and alcohol do not appear to have been a factor.”
