RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) -- The leading candidates for governor campaigned in the Richmond area Monday, both delivering different messages to voters.

The race has come down to the big day, and now it's time to talk about what voters need at the polls.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Your polling location is on your voter registration card.

Photo ID laws do not kick in until 2014 but voters still need to bring a valid form of identification in order to vote.

A driver's license, a voter registration card, a student or government ID, a social security card, or a recent utility bill are all proper forms of identification.

Apart from the gubernatorial candidates, depending on where you live you will vote on various local issues.

In Henrico and Chesterfield, meals taxes will be up for a vote.

The Attorney General and Lieutenant Governor races will also be voted on.

State Delegates will also be up for election.

Larry Haake, the registrar of Chesterfield County, reminds voters that if you don't like a particular candidate that doesn't mean you don't have to vote.

Write-ins are still permissible and it is allowed to leave a particular box blank.

"Not casting a vote on a candidate or an issue does not nullify the rest of the ballot," Haake said.
