RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – VCU graduate student Olugbenga Oluwatumilara “Tumi” Oredein Jr. was named a finalist in Walmart’s Get on the Shelf contest.

He has advanced through several rounds of competing designers who want to have their invention sold at Walmart.

But now the stakes are at their highest. People have to put their money where their vote is.

Oredein’s invention is “SKRIBS Customizable Wristbands” which “provides kids with an easy way to draw, erase, and start over.”

Children simply swipe their finger or tissue across the band’s writing surface to erase.

A three-pack of Skibs and a dry erase marker will sell for $8.95. Orders can be placed at www.walmart.com or www.skribs.com/walmart.

The company with the best pre-sales between Tuesday and midnight Thursday will receive marketing support from the international retailer and the product will be sold online and in the company’s stores.

Tumi visited CBS 6 a couple of weeks ago, to talk about the competition.

He said the top five finishers get shelf space and the grand winner gets Walmart’s massive marketing support as well.
