7 injured at Howard University homecoming event

WASHINGTON (WTVR) — Five people and two police officers were injured after reportedly being trampled during a homecoming event outside Howard University Friday afternoon.

Video shows the frantic moments after a large crowd tried to run toward a gate during YardFest,a homecoming concert featuring Big Sean, Juicy J and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony.

One Instagram user captured the chaos and wrote, “How was I recording? We all just trampled into yardfest.”

WJLA reports that the five victims has been taken to an area hospital.  Two police officers suffered minor injuries.

A Howard University spokesperson said that YardFest resumed after public safety officials restored order at the “oversubscribed” event.
