CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Caprolactam, a chemical used in the making of nylon thread, spilled on to
Route 10 Friday morning, closing the road for several hours.

The chemical spilled from a leaky truck leaving the Honeywell plant, Chesterfield Fire and EMS spokesman Lt. Jason Elmore said. None of the chemical got onto the grass or into the waterway, he added.

One lane of Route 10 westbound (East Hundred Rd.) at Allied Road reopened around 6:30 a.m. Friday.
