RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – A Facebook post by a Richmond tattoo parlor received 36,000 comments in 24 hours and the number keeps climbing.

Graffiti’s Ink Gallery tattoo artist Matthew Nemeth wrote the post that went live Thursday afternoon.

In it he offered a $100 gift card to “the last person to comment.”

“I went to my boss with the idea, just to see what would happen,” Nemeth said. “I didn’t think it was going to get this crazy.”

The 22-year-old tattoo artist said this was his first foray into marketing for the tattoo parlor. It might not be his last.

Graffiti’s Ink Gallery owner Rex Wiltshire said he is excited with how the post has taken off. The more people who comment on the post, the more Facebook users might see it in their Facebook feed.

“When it started going, I said just leave it out there and see where it goes,” he said.

So… where will it go?

Wiltshire said he hoped the post received 50,000 comments before he picked a winner.

He said instead of the $100 gift card, he planned to offer the winner a free tattoo — one designed by Nemeth. He also planned to give $25 coupons to anyone who commented on the post. Check out their Facebook page for updates.
