RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Teach for America corps members could be coming to Richmond Public Schools.

The organization targets at risk school districts and selectively recruits applicants at over 300 colleges across the country to find teaches who demonstrate certain leadership skills.

"I think TFA and Richmond would be a good match," Richmond school board member Kristen Larson said.

The board was given a presentation Monday night about the program. It would cost around $100,000 and would bring in 30 new teachers into the school system.

Kim Cobbs, a Richmond parent, told CBS 6 she's leaving the city partly because of the school system. She said there needs to be some change, and Teach for America could help bring something new to the table.

"It would show me that something is being done. Some action is being taken," said Cobbs.
