ROANOKE, Va. (WTVR) -- The final debate of the Virginia governor's race will not include Libertarian candidate Robert Sarvis.

That’s according to CBS station WDBJ, who is co-hosting the Oct. 24 debate with Virginia Tech in Blacksburg.

Sarvis' showing in recent polls came in at nine percent, which is just below the ten percent average he needed to be invited to take part in the debate.

The gubernatorial candidate's campaign released a statement from Sarvis late Thursday ago about the decision.

"I am disappointed, but not surprised,” Sarvis said in a statement. “Our political system has been distorted for the benefit of the two incumbent parties and no longer serves the voters of Virginia. That's why this campaign is such a breath of fresh air for so many people and why i remain undeterred.”

While Sarvis will not be appearing at the final debate, many in Central Virginia will start seeing Sarvis on television soon. In fact, his campaign just launched its first round of TV ads for the Richmond-metro area.

The same spot aired during the recent debate in Washington D.C.
