RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Drive around town and you will notice some gas stations advertising gas prices less than $3 a gallon.

The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas in Richmond is now $3.07, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 567 gas outlets in Richmond. That price has fallen 23-cents in the last month and 45-cents in the last year.

Nationally, the average price of gas is $3.38 a gallon, down 21 cents over the last month.

“The national average has continued its decline which has been continuing for 34 consecutive days,” GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan said in a statement. “And the odds are very good that prices will continue to decline in most areas in the week ahead. Perhaps most notable at this point of decline is how much cheaper gas prices stand versus the same date last year, with motorists realizing prices that are 50 cents or more lower. Much of the difference can be blamed on more active Atlantic waters last year that brought more storms than what we’ve seen this year.”
