Most of us were quick to jump at the first mention of pumpkin spice lattes and seasonal ales, but let us not forget the basics—pumpkin patches. No matter how mild the fall weather may be, ‘tis the time for us to collect ALL THE PUMPKINS and board the hayrides.

There are plenty of family-friendly and affordable opportunities, so get out there and enjoy the autumn weekends with this handy pumpkin patch and hayride guide

Sept. 28 to Oct. 31
A tractor transports you out to the field to pick pumpkin. There is also a Boo House, hay maze, tractor rides, donut shop (weekends) and gift shop.

Cost:  Pumpkins run $3 to $20. All you can carry for $20. Free hayrides.
Open:  Weekday 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sundays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Last hayride at 5 p.m. on weekdays and  4:30 p.m. on weekends.

Get your pumpkins at this nursery, in addition to all your seasonal decoratives (straw bales, mums, kales, pansies, evergreens). Hayrides available on weekends.

Cost:  Pumpkins are 45 cents. All you can carry, from the field for $20.
Open: Mon – Fri: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm, Sat: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Sun: 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm.

Lots of family fun and an old time farm experience. Every weekend in October there are hayrides out to the field to choose your own pumpkin, tour the corn maze, check out the farm animals and face or pumpkin painting.

Treasure hunts, geocache and even scarecrow building (bring your own clothes). There will be sunset hayrides the last two weekends in October.

Cost:  A $5.00 admission per person between the ages of 2 and 62, or use the family rate $15. Fee includes all farm activities. Pumpkins and scarecrow making priced separately. Discounted admission to groups of 25+ and military families receive 50% off admission fees.
Open: Saturdays and Sundays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Cost: Free entry, fee for some children’s activities. Pumpkins are .59 cent per pound. The maximum price for any pumpkin will be $39.99!!!!

Open: Thursday and Friday from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with weekend hours Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Starting Oct. 14., open Monday thru Friday from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Check out this spot for an “on the farm” family experience that comes with lots of seasonal activities like spooky house tours, straw bale maze, hayrides and lots of pumpkins. The third Annual Gallmeyer Farms Fall Festival is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 5.

Cost:  General admission and parking are free. Pumpkins cost per pound.

Starting Oct. 4, and continuing on every Friday in Oct.
A free Halloween movie night for families in the outdoor hay bale theater. In addition to movie nights and hayrides, Tom Leonard’s has heaps of locally grown pumpkins, and also specialty pumpkins, gourds, fall squash, straw bales, and cornstalks.

Cost: Pumpkins are priced around $2.50 to $8.00
Open: Movies start at 7 p.m.
