DENVER (KDVR) — A man injured while hiking on Maroon Bells near Aspen had to be airlifted out by a National Guard Blackhawk helicopter Saturday.

Video of the helicopter rescue was posted to YouTube by Mountain Rescue Aspen. It shows the helicopter slowly approaching the side of the mountain and touching a single wheel onto the ground as several people climb onboard.

According to a Facebook post by Mountain Rescue Aspen, the hiker had fallen on North Maroon Peak just below the summit at over 14,000 feet.

He suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Aspen and then a hospital in Colorado Springs.

The man, who has not been identified, is expected to make a full recovery, the post said.
