Mercedes-driving suspect accused in daycare crimes

YORK COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – York County Sheriff’s investigators are looking for the man accused of stealing from cars parked outside daycare centers.

“At approximately 7:20 a.m. [Wednesday] an unknown black male suspect smashed a window on a vehicle parked at the Goddard School located in the 400 block of Hampton Highway,” York County Sheriff’s Lt. Dennis Ivey, Jr. wrote in a media advisory. “He was seen leaving in a silver Mercedes bearing a Florida tag.”

Deputies located the suspect’s car Route 17 and gave chase.

“During the pursuit a deputy’s vehicle and a citizen’s vehicle were involved in a minor collision with the suspect vehicle. No major injuries occurred during the collisions,” Lt. Ivey wrote. “The suspect vehicle was later recovered, unoccupied in another jurisdiction.”

Investigators said the suspect is accused of a similar crime the A-plus Child Care Center located in the 3500 block of Rt.17.
