GREENFIELD, Wisc. (WTMJ) – Many ten year olds spend their money on candy and video games, but a Wisconsin boy opted to donate his life savings to his local police department.

Surveillance video, which usually record crime, captures Max Siepert’s act of kindness last Friday.

Max calmly walked into the Greenfield Police Department and dropped off a bag of change, before making a mad dash. He left no note or name, but the force was determined to track him down.

"But I just walked up to her and said, 'I would like to donate all this money to the Greenfield Police Department,'” said Max, who is in the sixth grade.

And he chose the department for a very special reason.

"My grandpa, who I never got to meet, he was a police officer, and he died at the line of duty," Max said.

The donation was a meager $10.03, but was about more than the amount: a child’s compassion for complete strangers.

"One day that's going to make a difference,” said Max. “If every person would do that, we would such a great world. It would be awesome!"

There has been no word on how the department will spend the money.
