Teenager shot, killed in home

SUSSEX COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Virginia State Police retrieved a handgun from a home in Jarratt where a teenager was shot and killed over the weekend. Tyler Givens, 15, was killed at a home on Jefferson Road about 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

“Givens’ body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Richmond for autopsy and examination,” Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller wrote in an updated emailed Monday morning. “No charges or arrests have been made at this stage of the ongoing investigation.”

Police have not yet said whether the shooting was accidental or if Tyler fired the gun himself.
