Multiple police sources told CBS 6 and the Chesterfield County jail confirmed, that Matt Gorski, is accused of going through the door of a house and violently attacking two teens inside.

Gorski, who once played basketball for the University of Illinois-Chicago, also played basketball for Cosby High School. He is 21 years old, according to his UIC profile page.

"Immediately there's fear,” said a neighbor who wanted me to hide her identity.  She says after the initial shock, they switched into help mode.

"The second thing we do is what can we do as neighbors to help, because we are a tight-knit community,” she said.  “It's tough to see our neighbors be violated like this."

Sources told us the two teens were hit with the handle of a knife.  One required stitches, according to a source.

Neighbors were able to give police a good suspect vehicle description who pulled over a car at Hampton Park Circle.

The nearly seven-foot tall suspect was arrested.

But that's little comfort for the Hampton Park neighborhood shaken by a home invasion in broad daylight.

"We all need to be more vigilant and look out for each other. Make sure our doors are locked and garage doors are down," that same neighbor said.

Police say that Gorski faces multiple charges.

  • 1 count of Attempted Capital Murder
  • 4 counts of abduction
  • 2 counts of malicious wounding
  • 1 count of strangulation
  • 2 counts of robbery
  • 2 counts of attempted robbery
  • 1 count of burglary
  • 1 count of driving under the influence

Residents say one neighbor has security cameras that could help police with their investigation.
