NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) -No serious injuries were reported after a tree fell on a truck that was headed east on Interstate 64 in New Kent County.
"A Ford F150 Crew Cab was eastbound in the left lane on I-64 when a large tree fell from the median and struck the truck across the windshield and grill," according to an email from Virginia State Police. "A Toyota Tundra also in the eastbound left lane swerved to the right to avoid the tree, but sustained substantial damage from the falling tree. A tractor-trailer traveling in the right eastbound lane of I-64 was able to safely swerve to the right shoulder to avoid the tree and other vehicles."
Police said the Ford F150 driver was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
The tree and accidents closed all lanes of Interstate 64 east near mile marker 208 in New Kent County. The lanes reopened about 9:45 a.m.
