HENRICO COUNTY, Va.  (WTVR) – Todd Attkisson, president and CEO of Ashland Roller Mills, will remain out on bond after an appearance in Henrico County’s General District Court.

During Thursday morning’s hearing, Henrico Commonwealth’s Attorney Shannon Taylor asked the judge to delay setting a date for Attkisson’s trial until her assistant returned from vacation.

Prosecutors said Attkisson, 52, had an inappropriate relationship with a girl when she was just 14 years old. He is charged with nine felony counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor.

Court documents showed Attkisson and the girl, who is now 19, were physically involved between November 2008 and January 2011.

Taylor confirmed the girl’s statements corroborate documented text messages and other social media activity.

Attkisson, the son of former Ashland mayor Linwood Attkisson, had no comment following Thursday morning’s hearing.

He is due back in court September 12, at which time a trial date will be set.
