CULPEPER, Va. (WTVR) – A Philadelphia man was killed during a  Blue Knights motorcycle rally in Culpeper. The Blue Knights is a group of active and retired police officers who enjoy riding motorcycles.

James Morrison, 47 was riding on Madison Rd. with several other members when an 84-year-old Sperryville man allegedly pulled his truck out into Morrison’s path, police said.

Morrison’s 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle hit the truck causing the motorcyle to  fishtail and roll. Morrison was thrown from the bike.

“He was taken to Culpeper Regional Hospital for treatment where he died about 2 p.m.,” a Culpeper town spokesman wrote in an email.

The Blue Knights have been holding its annual rally in Culpeper for more than 30 years. The “37th Annual Blue Ridge Rally” was scheduled from Aug. 30 – Sept. 2.
