It was his most famous speech, and the most memorable moment of the March on Washington.

All eyes were on the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. on August 28, 1963, as he delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech to a crowd of 250,000.

August 28 is the 50th anniversary of the “March on Washington” and King’s historic address. Hundreds of thousands gathered in the nation’s capital for the rally that became a key moment in the struggle for civil rights in the U.S.

There’s no doubt that King’s speech was the most memorable part of the March on Washington. It’s still taught in school, and memorized by children, half a century later.

Below are comments, pictures, video, and reports from around the nation as we reflect on this 50th anniversary.
