PHOENIX, Ariz. (WTVR) -- The daughters of an 87-year-old Arizona man who died last month are trying to find more of their siblings.

Samuel Delbert Whitney, who owned a Phoenix junkyard for many years and belonged to numerous social clubs, was very popular.

In fact, three of his daughters said they are still trying to nail down exactly how many children he fathered.

“He told me that we had 42, but since his passing some of his friends that have been around him said that he had 54,” daughter Lexie Woods told KTVK.

His daughters distributed flyers in hopes of reaching more of his children for a memorial service last weekend at the Bridge Church in South Phoenix.

The oldest of Whitney’s children, 69-year-old Sandra Whitney, said her dad was still siring children into his late 70s. As a result, his children’s ages range from 69 to mid-teens.

Marillyn Whitney acknowledged her father was a wild man – and "was out there" – but said he would be pleased the entire family was finally getting to meet each other.
