An area of disturbed weather developed into tropical depression six Sunday afternoon.  Wind speeds increased to 45 mph Sunday evening, making it a Tropical Storm Fernand.  (Tropical storms contain winds of 39 mph or higher.)

It is located in the western Bay of Campeche.  This is the body of water south of the Gulf of Mexico, and is located west of Cancun.

Fernand is moving westward, and will make landfall near Boca del Rio Monday morning.  Winds will strengthen a bit before it makes landfall.

The storm will dissipate over Mexico, but will cause rainfall amounts in excess of ten inches in some locations.  Flooding and mud slides will be possible.  The track of the storm will keep it well south of the Texas/Mexico border.
