ANNAPOLIS, Maryland (WTVR) -- A National Transportation Safety Board report reveals what caused a semi to knock a car off the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Maryland last month.

The NTSB concluded the crash was the result of the truck driver looking away from the road for a split second. When he looked up, traffic had come to a stop.

Amazingly, the woman inside the car, which plummeted 27 feet off the bridge into the water, survived. She managed to get out of the car and swim to some rocks until help arrived.

No charges were filed against the Canadian driver, who was driving his big rig on U.S. roads alone for the first time when the crash happened.
