POWHATAN, Va. (WTVR) -- Betty Bailey was found alive Sunday morning near the woods in Powhatan not far from her home.

The 66-year-old had been missing since Wednesday.

"I gave her a big hug and told her I missed her," Lawrence Bailey, the missing woman's husband, said.

Bailey told CBS 6 reporter Joe St. George that his wife was in the woods for more than three days and that the rain and cold forced her to come out.

Nearly 100 people showed up to look for Bailey during a search party operation Saturday afternoon. Local police had been using dogs and helicopters to try and find Bailey as well.

Lawrence Bailey said his wife disappeared as a result of a change in depression medication.

"She can't never get off her medication all the way," Bailey said.

Lawrence and Betty Bailey's son Andre said the whole ordeal had taken a toll on the family, especially since a rumor serviced that his mom had died.

"They said she was found dead in a rock quarry," Andre Bailey said.

Both Lawrence and Andre thanked the community for their support Sunday, promising to watch Betty closer in the future.

Andre said that his mom has taken medication since his sister was killed in a Richmond home invasion in 2001.
